Tuesday Toot #5

This week I am tooting about some face-lifts I have done on a couple of websites - Celebrating Women’s Day and my brochure site - MarieYnami.com . I have started with the face-lift but I still need to add the finishing touches and update some of the pages. Both of it was quite a bit of work especially because I am no wordpress guru but I am enjoying learning more about personalizing the template. I used the same template for both sites but I am personalizing each one to fit the respective sites. I decided to go with a wordpress blog for both sites instead of the traditional website - I love wordpress blogs … the ease of adding pages and content and also I enjoy the fact that you can easily change the look of it simply by switching over to a new template.

So - take a look see at Celebrating Women’s Day and my brochure site - MarieYnami.com and let me know what you think. Have you posted your Tuesday Toot yet? I hope you can join us!

How to Avoid Burnout

This week’s guest is Carrie Lauth, co-owner of MommyBurnOut.com. We talk about “How Moms can Avoid Burnout”. This is a hot topic especially for moms. We all get burnt out but it does not have to be that way. Carrie says that writing a list of your expectations will help you realize what brings about burnout. We spoke about how moms have such ridiculously high expectations of ourselves. She talks about how women’s standards have changed through the years since the invention of certain technology. She suggests that moms should try to figure out how burnout shows up in our life. Are there symptoms that we can identify that warns us a “Burnout” is coming up? Carrie stresses out that it is important for us moms to acknowledge our feelings. She also talks about how exercise and being out in nature are both helpful in eliminating burnout. We also both agreed that a “Girl’s Night Out” is a must for women.

This audio is actually a sampling of audios you can expect during Celebrating Women’s Day. This interview was recorded a year ago for the 2nd Annual Celebrating Women’s Day event but the topic remains “hot” especially for the mommy market.

Tuesday Toot #4

This week’s toot - is a step to a healthier me. My family has re-signed up to our local YMCA so - no more excuses of “Oh, it’s too cold for a walk or it’s raining …” I looked a the schedule of exercise classes and it got me really excited. I am going to attend salsa cardio again - I can imagine how tiring it can be but - it’ll be good. I am so ready to lose this extra weight.

I went to the doctor for a follow up check up and it looks like I didn’t gain any weight - I guess that is worth Tooting considering that the holidays just passed (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and such). I really tried my best not to over-eat and I guess it worked - I didn’t gain more weight - Toot Toot!

So that’s my Tuesday Toot - have you posted yours today?

This week my guest is Christine Steendahl, The Menu Mom. We talk about a hot topic - “Cooking for Kids”. Listen as she shares her secrets on “How to come up with easy recipes your kids will surely enjoy”.

Some questions I asked are:
What are some quick meals moms can make for their kids? She shares some of her family favorites like pizza, tacos, chicken nuggets and chicken quesadillas, mac and cheese and more.

Are there key ingredients Moms should always have in the pantry?
Her must haves in her pantry are pancake mix, refrigerated biscuits, shredded cheese, pasta, tortilla, fresh produce - just to name a few.

What are the more popular no-cook snacks/meals we can serve our kids?
She suggests sandwiches, fruits dipped in yogurt, deli-meat rolled up with veggies and cheese, and even a bowl of their favorite cereal.

We talked about several brown bag meal ideas kids can really enjoy, the importance of getting kids involved in meal preparation and finally she shares a yummy and easy smoothie recipe.
