Affirmations Motivate You
An affirmation is a way to use words to re-program your subconscious with positive thinking. Affirmations involve stating something that you think to be true even when all evidence appears to be the opposite. When you say an affirmation to yourself, you send a positive response to your subconscious – your subconscious accepts whatever you tell it. If done properly, this triggers positive feelings that in turn, lead to taking action.
Our minds work in wonderful ways. Once you start saying your affirmations on a regular basis – your mind will find ways for these affirmations to become a reality. An affirmation is a powerful tool, which will help you, gain positive attitude, which leads to positive actions.
Here are some tips to consider when designing your affirmation:
1) It needs to be positive.
2) It needs to be in the present time or future tense.
3) Avoid using words like “try”, “wish” or “hope” in your affirmations. Your affirmations need to sound “TRUE” at the time – not just a desire.
4) It needs to motivate you to take action.
5) It allows you to visualize.
Here are a couple of examples of affirmations:
Mary has a new business. She is hosting a home party for the very first time and she is nervous. Mary believes in the products that she is offering but she is having negative thoughts about the reactions she may get from her first home party. Here is Mary’s affirmation: “I believe in the products that I sell and I know that the ladies in the home party will see what a difference this will truly make in their lives. I will give an awesome presentation and will end the party with at least $300 worth of orders and inquiries about the ladies wanting to join my team and start their own home business doing what I do.”
Claire is attending her first off-line networking meeting. She is nervous around other people – she is afraid that they will judge her and she may say the wrong things to turn away people. Here is her affirmation: “I am confident and successful in what I do. I will meet people who are interested in learning about me and by business. “
Let us consider what can happen to Mary and Claire if …
…they do not practice saying affirmations before their party/meeting …
Mary is so nervous about her home party that she messes up on her presentation. She forgets to focus on the benefits of the products she offers … instead the home party becomes just as a get together where the guests engage in small talk. They just look at the printed material but do not place any orders.
Claire is so nervous that she does not smile. Everyone in the meeting just glances at her but hesitate to approach her. She does not meet new contacts or leads – the meeting was a waste of her time.
Now, what could happen if Mary and Claire conditioned their mind by saying their affirmations regularly a few days before the party/meeting?
Mary envisions herself giving an awesome presentation. She is enthusiastic about her products and explains in detail how the products can benefit others. She makes great on the sales – the host even offers to get outside orders before she closes her party. Mary got a guest to agree to host another party for her and even sparks some interest – on someone wanting to start her own business.
Claire is so psyched about her networking meeting. She practices her introduction. She is confident to make a connection with others. She smiles and looks approachable. During the meeting, she meets lots of people, make a connection and leave the meeting feeling happy and content.
You can design an affirmation for different situations. The key is saying it on a regular basis – it’s like tricking your mind into thinking that it is already TRUE – you will be amazed at the outcome. Once your mind believes this to be true – it will find ways for your affirmations to become a reality.
