Mom Blogger Interview: Rebekah from Mommie Joys

Today we want you to meet Rebekah from Mommie Joys.

Tell us about your blog.

Well, the MommieJoys slogan is,

“Christian perspective. Product reviews and giveaways. Mommiehood. Creating. Life and family.”

My Christian faith and outlook touches every aspect of my life, thus spilling over into all that I do – or blog! Wishing for more than just a personal blog, my goal was to share opinions and ideas too.

Subtly, I hope to help people think, “Do I agree with her? Is that viewpoint right? I’ve never considered that!”

After writing a few reviews for fun, I was contacted by two companies asking if I’d host a giveaway. Then I began writing companies and networking some online and MommieJoys’ hits started climbing!

Honestly, MommieJoys has a long way to go, but I am so excited as I see more people finding my blog every day. I’d appreciate feedback with ideas.

Why did you start blogging?

At first, mine was a personal blog that I rarely updated. That was back when used an un-heard of blog host. *grins*

But in June of 2011 I decided to switch over to Blogspot. With a new name and old posts copied over I begin blogging a bit more, about more.

Then in November of 2011, I slammed our tailgate on my head and gave myself a concussion. *bows to audience’s applause* Being mostly home-bound for the last several months has afforded the minutes and hours needed to help MommieJoys start showing up on the radar.

What are your goals for your blog going forward?

Simply to enjoy it! If blogging ever becomes a chore, well, it just won’t be fun anymore. Sincerely, I hope that my love of the topics on my blog will be “good enough” to get me noticed.

If you do what you love, you’re supposed to succeed, right? Well, I intend to only post about things I LOVE – God, my family, home, products, ideas and projects – you know, the MommieJoys slogan. *winks*

Are you active in Social Media? What do you enjoy about it?

Truthfully, I really haven’t “gotten into” social networking…yet! MommieJoys is relatively young, and I am quite green to the blog scene.

Every day I learn something new and gain a better understanding of the wonderful, networking blog ladies! With all this said, you can find MommieJoys on Facebook, Pinterest and BlogHer!

If you had to pick a favorite post on your blog what would it be and why do you like it best?

As far as a personal favorite, truthfully, it’s whatever post I’ve just completed! I put myself into every post – short or long, deep thought or just a picture.

The two most popular posts are…

Kipper the Dog 2nd Birthday Party

Glass Lock Snapware Product Review

Mom Blogger Interview: Claire from Inspiring Pretty

Today we want you to meet Clair from Inspiring Pretty.

Tell us about your blog.

Inspiring Pretty is a blog by 2 sisters and their sister-in-law where everything of interest to women is discussed.

From weddings to crafts to spirituality to recipes, we talk about everything that interest women and share our lives along the way.

Why did you start blogging?

Bonnie had an idea to begin her own blog after working as a freelance writer for the company where Claire worked. Soon after Lindsay wanted to join in as well, and Claire eventually joined in as well.

Not too long later, we had a website that had blossomed from a hobby to important thing that all three of us shared.

What are your goals for your blog going forward?

We hope to cover more subjects and devote more time to Inspiring Pretty as it grows and our blogging skills are fine tuned.

Are you active in Social Media? What do you enjoy about it?

Yes, we are! We love social media, because it is a way to talk to our readers. We see which articles people love and it also makes writing more personal when you talk to others about your articles.

If you had to pick a favorite post on your blog what would it be and why do you like it best?

I’d say our 15 Natural Beauty Recipes, because I wrote it partly to help myself keep track of great beauty recipes that I had found, and it has turned out to be our most popular post!

Mom Blogger Interview: Gina from One Mom’s Guide.

Today we want you to meet Gina from One Mom’s Guide.

Tell us about your blog.

OneMomsGuide addresses the unique demands of single parenting. Although I am a Christian, the blog and information included is applicable to most single parents and appreciate any comments and respect the beliefs of others.

Like most blogs, it is perpetually growing. I’ve included my personal stories, helpful links, time-saving tips, freebies and money-saving offers etc.

Of course, the purpose of the blog is to build a positive, energetic, community of single parents who will share their tips and unique methods of “making it work.” I look forward to including guest blog posts, too!

Why did you start blogging?

I began blogging when I realized there was a need for support in my community. Being a Christian stay-at-home wife/mother for 7 years, I found myself suddenly hurled into single parenthood! It was life-changing.

At the time, I was not only struggling with accepting my role as a single parent but I was also struggling through the shame of having left a child abuser. The best support, I have found, is from people who have walked the same road. It’s true, misery loves company.

Leaving an abusive partner is a big decision and often you can find support. However, that’s only the beginning. Leaving an unhealthy relationship, as monumental as it seems, is only the tip of the ice berg. There’s a long bumpy road ahead.

That’s how my blog was born. I would like to extend my hand to the community of single parents and assure them they have what it takes to survive.

What are your goals for your blog going forward?

My goals, as a blogger, are to create educational materials for single parents. The responsibility can seem overwhelming and hopeless. I hope to provide as many helpful resources as possible.

Most importantly, I would like to create a highly engaged, positive, social community, where we may learn from each other.

Are you active in Social Media?  What do you enjoy about it?

Yes! I have a Facebook page, Twitter account, Google+ profile, and Pinterest board. I manage it all via Hootsuite and iPhone apps. I also check my Klout score consistently but not obsessively.

I enjoy connecting with other single parents, learning from great leaders, ‘listening’ to the needs of others and the convenience! It’s difficult for single parents to ‘get out there’ and meet new people. Social networking makes it possible for us.

If you had to pick a favorite post on your blog what would it be and why do you like it best?

This is probably my favorite post to date:  10 Must Haves for Single Mom’s. Why? Because, like most bloggers, I had to find my niche. I went from “journaling” to actual “blogging.” I didn’t know this when I first began.

An online journal isn’t as engaging and helpful as blogging with a purpose. I have much to learn. Recently, I have begun reading many blogs written by other mothers. That’s been the best learning tool.

Mom Blogger Intervew: Kristin from Mondays with Mac

Today we want you to meet Kristin from Mondays with Mac.

Tell us about your blog.

My story is just your typical Canadian girl meets girl, girl marries girl, girls meet gay NYC man on internet to have baby with, fairytale for the digital age, love at first email, kinda story.

I blog about life with my wife and son in Ottawa Ontario as well as how we maintain a relationship with his father.

Why did you start blogging?

I was honestly just so blown away by the love I was feeling for my son and needed a place to articulate that.

What are your goals for your blog going forward?

If I am being entirely honest and hopeful my long term goals are to earn a decent income and publish a book about our story.

Are you active in Social Media? What do you enjoy about it?

Yes, I maintain a facebook fan page, twitter account and pinterest profile. I love the connection with people without concern for geography.

If you had to pick a favorite post on your blog what would it be and why do you like it best?

I think I would have to say that My Rest In Peace Shirley post is my favorite. Although favorite seems like a strange word to use. It was one of my very early posts and the first time I really wrote about raw emotional things.

Mom Blogger Interview: Courtney from One Fine Wire

Today we would like you to meet Courtney from One Fine Wire.

Tell us about your blog.

My blog started out as just something to do and to keep my family members “in the know” of what was going on in my life, and now it has certainly grown into a full-fledged hobby where I have met so many new people and gotten to know their stories.

My blog is about my life – it’s as simple as that. Since I began this hobby of mine, I have started my career, gotten married, bought my first home, and had a beautiful baby boy, Preston.

Balancing everything definitely gives me plenty to talk about and this blog has allowed me to share that with many people. So cool! I also love talking about music and diy decorating projects around my home.

One Fine Wire – I look forward to looking back on these days!

Why did you start blogging?

To keep up with family members and document parts of my life so I could look back and remember. I never had a diary as a kid, so I guess I’m making up for it ;)

What are your goals for your blog going forward?

Again, it’s a place to document everything that is going on in our lives including Preston’s big milestones. I’m a photography hog and love sharing pictures.

But I want to gain more readers, especially new mom’s who are possibly going through the same things as me or seasoned mom’s who may have some advice. To share our story with more folks!

Are you active in Social Media? What do you enjoy about it?

I really am only active on Facebook. I do have a twitter account but it is linked to my Facebook, so I advertise about my blog through facebook.

I really enjoy being able to keep up with people from high school and earlier in my life to see what they are up to. We are all in the stage now of getting/being married and having kids, so it’s great to catch up!

If you had to pick a favorite post on your blog what would it be and why do you like it best?

I would have to say one of my favorite posts is the birth story of my baby boy Preston( Labor of Love). Being pregnant was a great time in my life, sure I didn’t like all of it, but the end result was amazing.

I never could have guessed how precious of a memory birth is. At that moment I became a mother and I loved sharing the process, especially to those pregnant mom’s that I had come to know. They enjoyed finding out that it was such a wonderful experience and wasn’t scary at all.

Also, my diy nursery dresser makeover turned out to be pretty spectacular!
