Hey you! Welcome back!
Halloween is one of the holidays when kids are really expecting to eat lots of sweet treats. We are all accustomed to seeing store bought Halloween treats like the ever popular candy corn and other sweets during this favorite holiday. However, we must not limit ourselves to the “usual stuff” – let’s dare to be creative. It is quite fun and easy – especially when you see the smiles on the kids faces when they see these special homemade Halloween treats.
Baking is a tradition for many families during the Halloween season. Other than the regular cookies and cupcakes, there are some other recipes you can try to make this occasion more exciting and memorable for everyone.
Try baking “ghost cookies” instead of the regular boring cookie. Find a cookie recipe that you like and shape the cookies into little ghosts rather than the traditional round shape. Little kids can help you decorate the “ghost cookies” using different color icings.
Here is a great recipe for brownies shaped into ghosts. Make the brownies as you normally would, then before they cool, cut a ghost shape using a paring knife. Then melt white chocolate and using a piping bag, make the outline of the ghost on the brownie. After it has cooled you can pipe in the eyes and mouths, using any color frosting you choose.
You can make bat cakes too. Just follow the directions from a boxed chocolate cake mix. Place the prepared ingredients onto a baking sheet. When the cake is finished, you can cut out bats with a paring knife. Set them aside to cool. Melt some dark chocolate and pipe in their eyes and noses. In fact, you can use dark chocolate to make the bat wings and attach them to either side of the bat cakes. Your kids will be in chocolate heaven!
Halloween is one of the most popular and favorite holidays. During this time everyone is looking forward to wearing costumes, going trick or treating and even attending Halloween parties. It’s the one time of the year in which kids are allowed to not only help in making treats, but consume them as well. Families who make it a habit to prepare Halloween treats not only make unforgettable memories but also pass on a tradition. Make sure to have a great time, be creative and enjoy one of the sweetest days of the year.

I’m definitely in favor of avoiding those ultra-toxic store bought concoctions!! Thanks for the ideas!
