Hey you! Welcome back!
In this days economy – it is sometimes hard to think of creative but inexpensive ways to celebrate Halloween. Below is a list of frugal ways to celebrate one of the world’s most favorite holidays
Parents spend a bulk of money – sometimes money they do not even have – during the halloween season. Well, my advise is … you really do not have to. You can still have a memorable Halloween by being frugal.
If you are a frugal kind of mom – here are some useful tricks you can try.
Plan , plan, plan! – By the first week of September, you’ll notice Halloween candy and treats starting to appear on store shelves. Keep an eye out for sales during the months of September and October, this way you can avoid panicing closer to Halloween – you do not have to pay full price for sweets and treats!
If Necessary Buy In Bulk - …. But be realistic about the quantity of treats you really need. If there are not too many trick or treaters who come to your house, why not split a large, bulk package of goodies with a friend or neighbor.
Be Creative – There is no law that says you have to give candy to the trick-or-treaters on Halloween. In fact, many kids love to see something different in their bags when they get home. Plastic spider rings, pencils, mini microwave popcorn packs, mini pretzel bags, sticks of gum are all great, economical and healthy treats to give away.
Pennies And Stickers Can do the Trick! – Kids love stickers and stickers are a terrific popular, but frugal, treat to give away. Tattoos can also be a huge hit! It sounds strange, but a bowl full of pennies will make any kid’s eyes light up. Decide what you can afford to give to each child before your doorbell rings for the first time.
Have a Costume Swap Party – Arrange for a costume swap party with your friends, family and neighbors. I am pretty sure that they all have costumes that their children have either outgrown or aren’t interested in any more. Promise yourself that you are not going to spend unnecessarily on costumes this year.
Try to Make Your Own Costumes – Search your house for old clothes, hats, accessories and craft supplies and make your own homemade Halloween costumes.
Decide Now – Make a promise not to spend a lot of money this year during Halloween. It is tempting to go overboard on treats and sweets that you see as you walk through the discount stores. Keep it simple because it is possible for you to have a memorable and cost-effective Halloween for your family.
