When it comes to saving money on your groceries, there are a couple solutions you can count on. Solution #1 – Buy less and Solution #2 – Pay Less. However, it doesn’t really end just there. There are plenty of ways you can either buy less or pay less.
In this entry, we will talk about buying less. When we hear “buy less”, we assume that we have to cut down on things we need to buy but, that is not always the case. Listed below are some sensible ways we can “buy less”.
- Reuse things like food containers, permanent coffee filters and razors
- Make things last longer like diluting fruit juices (you save on money and save on un-needed calories too)
- Make sure you buy enough of what you can consume so that they do not go bad before you can remember to get to them – for example: yogurt, fruits and veggies
- You could invest on a water filter and instead of buying bottled water, you can just refill your own re-usable water bottle.
A common mistake that most people fall into is when they purchase items that the supermarket tags as a “special offer”, like “buy one, get one free”. It may seem like a great deal , sometimes it is … but, this may make you just consume more so you really are not saving much at all.
The best ‘two for the price of one’ offers are on things that you can only consume at a certain rate like bathroom and cleaning products, such as toothpaste and soap powder.
