The biggest excuse a mom may have when it comes to exercise and weight loss is finding time. This is mainly because most moms do not make engaging in physical activity a top priority. If you really desire to lose weight, commit to it and it won’t be so difficult. It’s more than just saying, “I want to lose weight”, commit to it and start exercising.
Another common excuse you might hear about not being able to exercise is because membership to a gym costs a lot of money. This is not a valid excuse. There are actually tons of things you can do to lose weight without having any gym membership.
Walking is the best way to start exercising. It is free and is a great way to lose weight. Since it is something that we already do everyday, then we really do not need any special training or equipment for it. Other activities that can be added to the exercise regimen are push-ups, crunches and squats.
Walking three to four days a week is a good start. Walk for at least 20 minutes to get the most health benefit. Walking around the neighborhood is something easy that any mom can do. To add some resistance, you can carry weights and when you are able to, you can also increase your walking time.
Another thing moms can do to get more exercise is doing housework like vacuuming, cleaning or gardening. If you have stairs in your home, you can use your stairs to exercise – go up and down your stairs a few times and you will surely get a good workout. When watching television, you could also jog in place or jump rope during commercials.
As moms, we usually put ourselves on the bottom of the list because we tend to take care of others first. We just need to make ourselves top priority and realize that if we take better care of our family, if we take care of ourselves first. Keeping this in mind, will keep us motivated to exercise and stay healthy.
