Organizing one’s space is one task that most people complain about. Clutter is one of the hurdles that keep individuals from keeping an organized home. If you are like the majority, perhaps, you too have a pile of something that you need to attend to as you read this post. Some people call it “organized mess”. Why? Well, because even if it seems to look like a mess – they have some idea of what is in their pile of mess.
If your problem is organization in your home, here are three steps that you need to follow to finally get organized.
Step 1 – Don’t overwhelm yourself by taking on too much at a time. Focus on organizing section by section. A timer is an awesome tool to help you accomplish this task. Set your timer to 10 minutes and see how much you can clean out in a given section.
Step 2 – De-clutter. Having too much stuff is a problem and usually creates the clutter. Sort through your things and get rid of all those things that you no longer need. Then group similar items together and find a home for the treasures that you have left.
Step 3 – Use containers to store similar items. You can use different items as containers from common things like: plastic boxes, wicker baskets, and tins to the not so common items like flowerpots, ceramic mugs and coffee cans.
Make a commitment to follow these three steps every three months and you will surely have a well organized home.
