Fifteen minutes doesn’t seem like a lot of time to some people but believe it or not, it is enough time to do something that can help you have a more organized life. You may think that you need to set aside an entire day just to organize certain parts of your home but truthfully, there are things you can do while you have some idle time. Here are seven things you can do in fifteen minutes or less – while you are waiting at the doctor’s office, or waiting for your next appointment or even while waiting for your favorite show to come on.

1. Clean out your purse. Gather the trash like unneeded receipts, candy wrappers or used tissue papers. You’ll be happy that your purse is clutter free and much lighter.

2. Balance your checkbook. If you do this often enough, you won’t have the problem of having to worry about bounced checks and bank fees.

3. Pay for a bill. You could pay a bill online. You can drive to a payment center or you can write a check and mail your payment.

4. You can clean out a drawer. Whether it is a drawer from your desk or a kitchen drawer, fifteen minutes is more than enough time to go through it and remove what doesn’t belong.

5. Make an inventory of what you have in your pantry or clean out your refrigerator. Toss out what’s expired. This is a good way to keep your refrigerator smelling fresh. By keeping up with what’s inside your refrigerator and pantry, you’ll know what you have in stock and not worry about wasting money by buying items that you still have.

6. Make a grocery list. Making a list helps you avoid wasting money and buying things that you do not need.

7. Write a “to-do” list. This helps you figure out the tasks that you still need to complete.

This is just a short list of things you can do in fifteen minutes or less. You may even come up with your own list of fifteen-minute tasks. Doing any of these tasks often will definitely make you a more organized person.

Great tips. I actually just balanced my checkbook for the first time in a long time. And while I have to say I didn’t love the results, it feels much better to be on top of it. Tonight’s project? The bathroom closet!
